A purifying shower

When our Finnish-Dominican two-pack finally reached Quepos after renting and driving the car from San Jose, sun had set and darkness had covered every little monkey, lizard and bird. Quepos is on the central part on the cost to the Pacific Ocean about 2,5 hours from San Jose by car. The owner, of the cottage we had rented, comes to get us from a restaurant and takes us to our new home. We get more than positively surprised, our cottage is way bigger than we had imagined. As for the surroundings, well we couldn't see much. We could hear plenty. Plenty of birds, crickets and other creatures. Our first night we were not so much sleeping as staying awake wondering about all the weird sounds we were hearing.
Next morning we woke up to sweet sunshine and warmth.

This sunshine and warmth was repeated every day of our trip.

It didn't take much imagination to feel that we had reached paradise. Our cottage felt like our humble palace and harmony surrounded us.

In the beginning of our relationship we, as a lot of people do, asked each other all kinds of questions. Like for example; "what does your dream house look like?". I remember closing my eyes and having an image in my head while I give my answer; "A small house with a huge veranda and a hammock".

While relaxing in my hammock on our veranda, I realized that the image in my head was very much alive in front of my eyes.

A little extra that not even my imagination had pictured was right next to our cottage. An outside shower to purify the body, mind and soul.

The man who owns this beautiful place along with a few more cottages on this same land, is a man called Pierre. He left Quebec 35 years ago and half by mistake ended up in Costa Rica and not Mexico, where he was headed. He decided never to return and is now a citizen of Costa Rica. He is an absolutely adorable human being and we were really lucky to have chosen his place.
Thanks to him we got a better view of how the Ticos/Ticas (locals) see their country and less the touristy view of this land.
